Virginia Lois Liljeroot

V. Lois Liljeroot, 90, formerly of Galva, died Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 23rd, at the Galva Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Rev. Linda Winkelman will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Galva Cemetery. There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church in Galva.

Virginia Lois Peterson was born October 17, 1921, in Wethersfield Township, Henry County, Illinois, the daughter of William Hiram and Amy Benedina Nelson Peterson. As a young girl, she went to the Craig School, which was a one room schoolhouse near her home. She later attended Wethersfield High School in Kewanee.

Her marriage to Leonard G. Liljeroot took place on November 20, 1941, at the Peoria Swedish Lutheran Church in Peoria. Immediately following their marriage, the couple moved to Los Angeles, California. After World War II, they moved to Galva where they spent the rest of their lives. Leonard passed away September 4, 1989. Lois was affiliated with the Lutheran Faith.

Those surviving are five nieces, Pamela Evans (LeRoy)Miera, Prescott, AZ, Paula Evans (Roger) Luft, Galva, Patricia Evans (Jerry) Ewoldt, Port Byron, IL, Debra Evans (Tim) Kemp, Galva, and Diane (George) O’Keefe, Yerington, NV. Other survivors include 10 great nieces and nephews, and 27 great great nieces and nephews. Her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Viola Louise Weimer and Elizamae Peterson Evans, preceded her in death.
