William H. Stenzel, 80, of Geneseo died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Hammond-Henry Hospital Long Term Care Center, Geneseo. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1st at First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. Rev. Dr. Chris Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bill was born May 27, 1931 in Geneseo the son of Harold and Lula (Swanson) Stenzel. He graduated from Geneseo High School in 1949. He married Janet McKinzie on April 1, 1950 in Geneseo. She died in Nov. 1975. He later married Marie Sassen Pearson on Sept 15, 1984 in Geneseo. She survives. Bill had farmed in the Osco area all his life. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Geneseo where he had served on several committees and served as an usher. He was also a member of Henry County Farm Bureau. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, traveling and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Marie; son, Jeffrey Stenzel, Kewanee, daughter, Sharon (D.J.) Desjardins, Plattsmouth, Nebraska, daughter, Pamela (Gene) VanQuakebeke, Osco, son, Steven (Lori) Stenzel, Bartonville, IL and daughter, Julie (Maurus) Chapman, Sheffield, IL; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a sister, Annette DeGeeter, Osco, IL Also surviving are six step-sons, David, Dennis, Paul, Mark, Daniel, and John Pearson; 14 step-grandchildren, and 14 step-great grandchildren and special lifelong friends, David and Ruth Windy. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and a son, Michael.
