Ruby Mae Brieser

Ruby Mae Schuneman Brieser, 96, of Geneseo, IL passed away Thursday, January 05, 2012 at Iowa Masonic Health Facility, Bettendorf, IA. Cremation rites have been accorded and memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Atkinson Congregational Church, Atkinson, IL. Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ruby was born January 8, 1915, the second of three daughters to William F. and Martha (Madsen) Schuneman in rural Sheffield. She married Marion “Ole” Brieser on January 21, 1940 and they resided in Sheffield for several years where Ole and his brother operated the International Harvester dealership.

In 1968 they retired from farming and moved to Geneseo where Ruby was employed for several years at Kneen’s Dept. Store. They continued to enjoy an active lifestyle which included camping, fishing, snowmobiling, and spending time at their cabin near Siren, WI.

Ruby was a member of Atkinson Congregational Church and the Daughter’s of Ruth. Since 2009, she has been a resident of Woodridge in Geneseo and only recently relocated to Bettendorf.

Her husband of 43 years preceded her in death, as well as her sister, Marie S. Hamilton. She is survived by her sister, Juanita S. Quickle, Princeton, IL, her son, Daniel G. Brieser and his wife, Betty, LeClaire, IA, her daughters, Martha Lochridge Robinson and Kathie Goreth Haasl, both of Tampa, FL, and her stepson, Gary W. Brieser and his wife, Barbara, Wilmington, IL. In addition Ruby is survived by 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
